Aviation Machinist’s Mate Senior Chief Petty Officer Ryan O. Resurreccion is a native of Manila, Philippines. He graduated high school in Angelicum College and attended ROTC in University of Santo Thomas, Manila for two years and migrated to the United States in May of 1996. He decided to join the service to be independent and travel the world. He then enlisted in the United States Navy in July 1997, completing Basic Training at Recruit Training Command and Airman Apprenticeship Training School (ATD) in Chicago, Illinois.
He reported to his first command, VAQ-134 (Garudas) in Whidbey Island, Washington on November 1997. At this command, he earned his EA-6B Plane Captain, Collateral Duty Inspector, Low/High Power Turn-up qualifications, Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist, and was advanced to Second Class Petty Officer. He earned his naturalization as US citizen on April 2001 in Seattle, Washington. He detached on multiple expeditionary deployments to include Incirlik Turkey, PSAB Saudi Arabia, Azores Portugal, Aviano Italy, Rota Spain, Brussels Belgium, and Sembach Germany in support of Operation Northern Watch, Operation Southern Watch, and Operation Allied Forces. Later, he reported to his second command HSL-41 (Seahawks) in San Diego, California on August 2002 and attained numerous qualifications such as H-60B Plane Captain, 110/310/12C CDQAR, and Phase Coordinator. For his second sea tour, he checked into HSC-21 (Blackjacks) on September 2005 and completed his first WESPTPAC 2006 on-board USS PELELIU (LHA-5). During this tour, he was advanced to First Class Petty Officer. On July 2006, he became a plank-owner of HSC-23 (Wildcards) where he attained his MH-60S Safe-for-Flight qualification, became the Line Division Leading Petty Officer, Quality Assurance Leading Petty Officer, and completed another WESTPAC 2008 on-board USS PELELIU (LHA-5) as the Detachment Leading Petty Officer. In the same command, he was selected to Chief Petty Officer on 15 September 2009. On December 2009, he transferred to his second shore duty at HS-10 (Warhawks). During this tour, he fulfilled the roles of Aircraft Division Leading Chief Petty Officer, Quality Assurance Supervisor and Maintenance Control Leading Chief Petty Officer. He attained his Safe for Flight qualifications on HH-60H and HH-60F and played a key role in HS-10’s decommissioning program. While on shore duty, he and his wife Icy Resurreccion got married in San Diego, California on September 2011.
On August 2012, he reverted to HSC-21 (Blackjacks) for his fourth sea tour where he took another detachment as the Leading Chief Petty Officer on-board USS PELELIU (LHA-5) for WESTPAC/RIMPAC 2014. He also fulfilled the roles of Quality Assurance Supervisor, Maintenance Control Supervisor, and acting Maintenance Master Chief. He was selected to Senior Chief Petty Officer on June 2014 and was selected as the COMHSCWINGPAC Association of Naval Aviation Chief of the Year in December 2016. He is currently serving as the command Senior Enlisted Leader and a recent graduate of the Coast Guard Senior Enlisted Academy Leadership Course class 58 on March 2017.

Senior Chief Resurreccion’s decorations include the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (two awards), Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal (six awards), Navy Unit Commendation (three awards), Meritorious Unit Commendation (two awards), Good Conduct (six awards) and various service and campaign awards.
