WELCOME ABOARD HSC-21
![]() |
Welcome Aboard. I am CMC Joe Curtin and the CO, XO and your fellow “BLACKJACKS” look forward to your arrival. You have received orders to the finest squadron in one of the best duty stations on the planet. We are proud to have the best-equipped, best-trained, and most capable Sailors in the Navy. We understand that our Sailors and their families our most important resource. As such, our priority is to ensure a smooth transition to the squadron for you and your family. As soon as we receive your orders you will be assigned a sponsor and a welcome aboard package will be mailed to you. If you are currently under orders and have not received a sponsor or package, please contact me immediately and I will ensure one is forwarded to you. Additionally, please contact your sponsor as soon as possible and let them know what additional information will be required. If your orders are short-fused contact me or the Command Career Counselor and we will provide assistance as required. Be advised that San Diego is a high cost area, and adequate housing can be expensive. As directed on your orders, you are required to check in with the housing office PRIOR to negotiating a contract or lease for off-base housing. Base housing is available, but the waiting list is normally 6 months to 2 years, depending on various factors, so be prepared to live on the economy. |
If you are arriving by aircraft and require transportation, advise your sponsor or call the duty office and we will pick you up. Assistance for arriving personnel is available at the USO located below the Terminal 2 Skywalk. Additionally, visit the Relocation Assistance Manager at the nearest Family Service Center. The Center will provide information about the San Diego area and support services that include housing, childcare, schools, spouse employment and more. If an FSC is not conveniently located near you, you can also obtain information through the Standard Installation Topic Exchange Service (SITES) I have included some crucial telephone numbers and e-mail addresses below. The "BLACKJACKS" look forward to your arrival!
